What is Mass Source?

What is Mass Source?

In Mass Source we define the mass of the structure along with additional dead and live load to be taken into account for the Earthquake analysis.

As per Clause 7.3.1 of IS 1893:2016(Part 1), Seismic design force shall be estimated using full dead load plus some percentage of the imposed load as given in Table 10.
For Imposed load distributed uniformly on the floor, 25% of the imposed the load shall be considered when the intensity of the live load is up to and including 3.0kN/m2.
And for imposed load distributed uniformly on the floor, 50% of the imposed load shall be considered when the intensity of the live load is more than 3kN/m2.
